The Home Builders Federation has released this year’s results from the National New Homes Customer Satisfaction Survey (CSS), with 41 housebuilders receiving a five-star rating.
The CSS is a self-completion census filled out by new build home buyers, with results published annually every March. This year, just over 60,000 forms were completed, which means that the survey can deliver a robust and accurate depiction of the industry and builder performance.
This year’s survey results show that 90% of new build home buyers would recommend their builder to a friend, the third year in a row that the industry has scored 90% or over. 90% of participants also said that they would buy a new build home again, with 85% saying they would buy from the same builder again.
The positive results are particularly impressive following the challenges that housebuilders have had to overcome over the last year, particularly the issues over the supply of materials and labour shortages.
In total, 41 housebuilders received the highest award of five stars. This includes volume housebuilders Barratt, Taylor Wimpey, Persimmon, Vistry and Redrow, who have also been listed in FT’s Diversity Leaders 2023.
Story Homes’ CEO, Colin Wood, had this to say after picking up a five-star rating: “To once again receive five-star builder status and such a high customer satisfaction rating is a fantastic achievement for our business. These accolades reflect our ongoing commitment to providing the highest level of service and communication to our customers.
“I am extremely proud of our team, and these achievements are a result of the hard work and passion shown by everyone at Story Homes – in designing a great product, building homes that people aspire to live in and always trying to do the right thing for our customers.”
John Enright, group customer care director at five-star recipient Bellway, said: “At Bellway we are committed to excellence in every aspect of the homebuying process and we continue to progress a number of initiatives across the group to improve the positive feedback received from our customers to date.”
“Our Better with Bellway sustainability strategy puts customers and communities at the centre of everything we do. It encompasses the quality and safety of our building sites, and delivers on our commitments to carbon reduction, sustainability, and biodiversity. Our charitable work and community engagement are also important to us and to our customers.
Regional housebuilder, William Davis Homes, secured a five-star rating for an impressive eighth year in a row.
Managing director, Guy Higgins, said: “We’re proud and delighted to have again received such high praise from our customers.”
“Winning this award for an eighth successive year is a fantastic achievement. It shows how our entire team has continued to achieve high standards and first-class service over the past year.”
