Redrow has acquired its first site just outside of Deal, one of Kent’s most popular seaside towns.
The 13.8-acre site has outline planning consent and will see 153 homes built, with a total GDV of £69million. The parcel of land was purchased from Quinn Estates and is located on the north-western edge of Deal.
The proposals currently include 103 homes for private sale, with a further 50 earmarked as affordable homes. The homes will range in size from two to five-bedrooms, all from Redrow’s award-winning Heritage Collection, combining the charm and architecture of the early-20th century arts and crafts movement, with spacious and modern interiors.
Through S106 agreement, Redrow is set to contribute over £1.5million towards local services including education, health provision, waste management and community facilities.
The site includes over two acres of green open space and the on-site skatepark will be retained. Betteshanger Country Park is also within walking distance, which residents will have direct access to, and includes cycle paths, a museum and café amongst other amenities.
Glen Wells, land director at Redrow South East, commented: “Deal has become a hugely popular place to live with its access to the coast and charming high street, brimming with independent shops, cafes and pubs. We look forward to progressing this application and delivering the homes in due course.”
The site is ideally located, with Deal’s town centre just ten minutes by car, offering an array of amenities such as restaurants, independent shops, pubs, live music venues, a theatre, and good schools. Canterbury, Folkstone and Margate are also within close reach of the town.
The site will be ten minutes by car from Deal train station, with direct trains to London can be accessed by car in ten minutes and Deal station with direct trains to London in 90 minutes, making it ideally positioned for those commuting into London part-time.
